Inaugural DOM Medicine Awards for Faculty, Staff, and Trainees
The Department of Medicine is home to faculty, staff, and trainees who make a tremendous impact daily through their dedicated work. To honor these exceptional contributions, we encourage you to nominate your colleagues for one of the many categories listed below.
After the nomination and selection process, we welcome everyone to join us at the Inaugural DOM Medicine Awards on November ##, 2025. This special event, hosted by the DOM Office of Faculty Development, will celebrate the achievements and positive influence our colleagues have on the Department, the School of Medicine, and the University.
The Department of Medicine (DOM) is inviting nominations to honor exceptional individuals within our Department. We seek to recognize those who have made significant contributions and demonstrated excellence, service, and dedication at WUSM or BJC Healthcare in any relevant role. We welcome nomination submissions for faculty, staff, and trainees across all areas, specialties, tracks, ranks, and positions.
Please submit your nominations for the following categories by 5:00pm on August 1, 2025 using the instructions provided.

Outstanding New Professional | Staff AND Faculty | Outstanding contributions with potential for long term growth during first 5 years of employment |
Unsung Hero | Staff, Faculty, AND Trainee | Consistent efforts to go “above and beyond” without seeking or expecting recognition |
Distinguished Achievement Award | Staff, Faculty, AND Trainee | Notable contribution and achievements within one’s respective field |
Distinguished Mentor | Staff, Faculty, AND Trainee | Demonstrated exceptional effort to enhance development and success of mentees |
Community Builder | Staff, Faculty, AND Trainee | Significant effort to improve the quality of life for members within a community |
Administrative Rock Star Award | Staff AND Faculty | Administrative excellence going above and beyond |
Team Science | Staff, Faculty, AND Trainee | Integral efforts across interdisciplinary teams to accelerate research gains |

- Nominees may include any DOM full- or part-time faculty, trainees, or staff. The nominee must be an employee of the Department at both the time the nomination is received and during the award ceremony.
- Self-nomination is allowed.
- Nominations are accepted from various sources, including supervisors, faculty, staff, senior administrators, and departmental representatives who work alongside the nominee
- Individuals may nominate multiple candidates in each category, but not the same person for multiple categories.
- Nomination form should specify the category for their nominee (Faculty, Trainee, or Staff) and should illustrate the nominee’s contribution to the success or enhancement of a university or departmental process or program.
- Letters should be no more than one page in length
